Showunmi rejects Omokri’s claim of hiring him as Atiku’s spokesperson

Segun Showunmi has rejected claims that former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, played a role in his hiring as the spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar during the 2019 presidential campaign.

In a session on The Honest Bunch Podcast, Omokri claimed that Atiku had offered him the position of his spokesperson, but he rejected the offer and instead hired Showunmi.

He said, “Atiku wanted me to be his spokesperson. I said no, I’m not going to be a spokesperson for a president and then be a spokesperson for a presidential candidate. But, I hired his media team, and I hired Segun Showunmi; I interviewed him and set his salary.”

Reacting to the report, Showunmi released a statement on Monday night, saying, “It will be a waste of saliva responding to this rubbish.”

He then listed some names who played a role in his hiring as Atiku’s spokesperson. The names didn’t include Omokri.

Showunmi further stated that Reno is delusional, just as he revealed that he first set eyes on him in London.

“Believe Reno if you like nonstop talking of rubbish,” he said, adding that it is only those who are not familiar with Omokri that will fall for his antics.
