A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, Honourable Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, on Sunday implored the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to simplify process for the collection of Permanent Voter’s Card (PVCs) ahead of the governorship election in the state.

He also expressed concern over the challenges and stress being faced by eligible voters in various collection points, imploring the umpire to make the process seamless, with a view to boost voter turnout and enable more citizens to exercise their constitutional rights during the election.

Oyintiloye, who hitherto represented Obokun State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, in a statement emphasised the need for INEC to take urgent action in addressing the seeming frustration and difficulties in the collection of PVCs.

He, however, urged the electorate not to be discouraged by the cumbersome processes, encouraging those yet to collect their PVCs to do so and turn out en masse to vote peacefully for the candidates of their choice.

While charging voters not to submit themselves to fear due to the reported incidents of violence and alleged intimidation, Oyintiloye said “no  individual or group should be allowed to undermine the democratic process through acts capable of causing panic or discouraging lawful participation in the election.”

He also tasked the security agencies “to remain vigilant and professional in safeguarding lives and property before, during and after the poll, contending
that anyone engaging in violence, intimidation or any act capable of disrupting the electoral process should face the full wrath of law.

Oyintiloye, however, expressed optimism that the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO would emerge victorious, saying his widespread acceptance and support would guarantee APC’s victory.

“Goodwill and enthusiasm shown by residents indicated strong confidence in the APC candidate. The journey back to government has commenced for APC. We have confidence that voters would democratically elect Oyebamiji as the next governor, “he added.
