Students seek reopening of schools in Southern Kaduna
Students of tertiary institutions under the aegis of Southern Kaduna Youth and Student Forum (SKYSFOM) have asked Governor Nasir El-Rufai to reopen the schools since peace has returned there.
They expressed concerns over the long closure of the schools insisting that there was no going back on the three weeks ultimatum for their reopening.
The students said they would pass a vote of no confidence on Governor El-Rufai once the ultimatum elapses.
Addressing journalists in Kafanchan, National President of SKYSFOM, Galadima Jesse, who rejected the state government’s plan to relocate the students from Kafanchan to campuses in Kaduna, said they would seek legal option to ensure that the schools were re- opened.
“However, our three weeks ultimatum, which commenced on June 12, 2017 for the reopening of the schools still stands and we intend to pass vote of no confidence on the governor if he refuses to reopen our schools after the ultimatum.”
Jesse accused El-Rufai of having no regard for the educational advancement of the Southern Kaduna people and the institutions located within the zone.
