President of the Nigeria Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs (NSCIA president,), SULTAN of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar 11, has implored youths to learn from the wisdom of elders to serve as guide and prevent them from making avoidable mistakes.

The sultan, who is President of the Nigeria Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs (NSCIA president), made the call yesterday at Gbongan, the country home of the retired Supreme Court Justice, Justice Bolarinwa Babalakin.

He said elderly people by virtue of their experience in life are imbued with deep knowledge and wisdom, capable of placing the society on smooth path of peace, development and growth.

The monarch, who came to Ibadan, the Oyo State capital for an Islamic event, visited Justice Babalakin, as a mark of honour to the elder statesman for his immense contributions spanning about 50 years to the Muslim Association of Nigeria.

He acknowledged the great commitment that Babalakin had made to the propagation of Islam and development of Nigeria, and urged the younger generation to follow the footsteps of elders and learn from them before they depart.
