Elder statesman and Peoples Democratic Party chief in Delta State, Chief A.C. Okocha, has called on the residents of the state to assist Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in the search for a credible successor.

Okocha, who is the chairman of Ogwashi-Uku Peoples Democratic Party Leaders and Elders Forum (OPDPLEF), stated that as the man, who knew where the shoe pinched, Okowa should be supported by party leaders, elders and stakeholders to play a major role in the choice of who to succeed him.

He noted that the plum position of the governor must be occupied by someone with a track record of integrity, resourcefulness and the ability to attract development across the three senatorial districts.

He said Delta State needed a tried and tested personality to build on the legacies of Okowa and take the state a notch higher through clear and defined practical programmes such as job creation, health, agriculture education, industrialisation, peace and security as well as sustainable rural and urban renewal initiatives.
