Tambuwal supports Sokoto women entrepreneurs with N20m business package

Former Governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aminu Waziri, has distributed a business package worth N20.3 million to 203 young women entrepreneurs in the state.

Tambuwal disclosed this at a trade exhibition organised by young women entrepreneurs under the banner of The YHK Vibrant Fair held in Sokoto.

The amount is to be disbursed in N100,000 each to the 203 participants, stating that the gesture is aimed at helping them expand their businesses.

Tambuwal, however, reaffirmed his commitment to youth and women empowerment, praising the women for their creativity, resilience, and consistency in sustaining their ventures.
“I am proud of your determination and the progress you have made. It is heartwarming to see that the initiative we started years ago continues to produce real results,” he said.
“Your success is a success for Sokoto State,” he further added.

Speaking at the event, the organiser, Yasmin Hassan Kangiwa, revealed that all the participants were beneficiaries of the first business grants issued by the Sokoto State Government during the tenure of Senator Tambuwal as governor.

The grants, she noted, were designed to cushion the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and help women-owned enterprises recover and thrive.
“We owe our entrepreneurial success to your bold decision to empower us through that grant,” Kangiwa praised the former governor.

She said: “Since then, our businesses have continued to grow despite challenges along the way.”

The initiative brought together women-owned small businesses, all of which were beneficiaries of a business grant introduced during Tambuwal’s tenure as governor to mitigate the economic impact of COVID-19.

The fair featured 203 women-owned small businesses showcasing locally made products, including fashion items, food products, crafts, and beauty accessories, highlighting the growing role of women in Sokoto’s business ecosystem.
