Taraba to ban plastic bags
Persons trading on plastic bags in Taraba State have been urged to seek alternative means of livelihood, as the state government will soon ban the use of the substance in the state.
Governor Darius Ishaku, who handed down the order yesterday during the launch of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) scheme and declaration of the state of emergency on WASH, said his government would make available non-biodegradable materials (paper bags) to replace plastic bags.
Though as at the time of declaring the ban, a bill to that effect had not been presented to the House of Assembly, he said plans to forward the bill to the assembly would soon be mapped out.
