Tinubu appoints Enitan as Head of Civil Service, effective August

President Bola Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), effective August 27, 2026.

He succeeds Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is due to retire from the Federal Civil Service upon attaining the statutory retirement age of 60 years.

Enitan, a native of Osun State, is currently the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, and the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.

He served as a Permanent Secretary for seven years and seven months, during which he worked at the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, and the Office of the Vice President.

Tinubu lauded Walson-Jack for her distinguished service to the nation, particularly the reforms, innovations and institutional improvements recorded in the civil service during her tenure.

He wished her a fulfilling and successful post-retirement life, while conveying the nation’s gratitude for her years of dedicated and impactful public service.

The President, however, charged the incoming HCSF to consolidate the reforms and innovations already underway, deepen professionalism and efficiency across the service, and build a more effective and responsive civil service capable of delivering the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He also urged Enitan to lead a civil service that is professional, merit-driven, accountable, innovative and responsive to the needs and aspirations of Nigerians.
