All Progressives Congress’s National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and a former Chairman of Ijebu East Local Council, Ogun State, Comrade Tunde Oladunjoye, have congratulated former President Olusegun Obasanjo on his 85th birthday, praising him for his patriotism and unfailing commitment to the country’s unity.

In congratulatory, Tinubu said: “At 85, Baba Obasanjo remains strong, agile and committed to the greatness of our dear nation. He has made numerous useful contributions. There have been instances where I have disagreed with Obasanjo on important substantive issues.

Okowa, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, said Nigeria benefited immensely from the former president’s leadership at various times as several tangible key infrastructures and economic reforms were hallmarks of his leadership.

He commended the former president for always lending his voice on national issues and for his patriotic and unrelenting service to the country and humanity.

He described the octogenarian as an epitome of nationalism and statesmanship, lauding him for his sustained contributions to Nigeria’s peace and unity.

Okowa said the former president had through acknowledged efforts and effect etched his name and Nigeria in the global reckoning, adding that he was a well-respected personality in global affairs.

“On the occasion of your 85th birth anniversary, I heartily rejoice with you and your family on behalf of the Government and people of Delta.

“As a country, we recall with nostalgia, the economic reforms in the banking, communication and health sectors introduced during your administration which paved way for the revolution in the Nigerian economy.

“At 85, you have continued to give yourself to the service of our nation in various ways, including your frequent fatherly admonitions to the nation at various levels, he said.

Oladunjoye, in a statement, said: “Like him or hate him, Obasanjo is an enigma. He cannot be ignored. In and out of office, he remains influential and powerful, within the military and political circles. His opinions are weighty and well sought after, locally and internationally. He is an elder statesman.

“He has got a fecund mind and memory, an uncommon strength and energy that belie his age. At 85, He is ever itching to go and never slowing down. What shall we say of a man who is the first to acknowledge the grace of God upon his life other than to thank the Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent being for bestowing His abundant grace upon our Obasanjo.”

“I can only wish and pray that the good Lord will continue to uphold and strengthen Obasanjo in good health and God’s abundance. May you live to celebrate many more years in continuous service to God, humanity and the world in general? Happy birthday, sir,” the statement concluded.
