
President Bola Tinubu, yesterday, pledged to support the agricultural and development revolution by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
Tinubu pledged while speaking at the commissioning of the 76.67 km Adebayo Alao-Akala Memorial Expressway, linking Ogbomoso with the Oke-Ogun zone of Oyo State.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the President lauded Makinde for his drive for huge investment in capital projects.
The commissioning, which took place at the Randa area of Ogbomoso, was witnessed by the Acting National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum; Mutiat Ladoja, Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin; Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, Chief Niyi Akintola, Amb. Oladejo Arapaja, the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Laoye Afolabi, the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Alao and other prominent personalities.
Tinubu said infrastructure remained the gateway to the nation’s development, adding that by linking neighbouring zones, jobs would be created and the agricultural value chain would increase.
According to the President, grassroots involvement in democratic development should not be overemphasised.
In his remarks, Makinde said he would not shift away from the interconnectivity plan made back in 2019 for development across the state to reduce the infrastructure deficit and move the state from poverty to prosperity.
He called on local and foreign enterprises to see the state as an investment destination.
