President Bola Tinubu has secured renewed investment commitments from the Bolloré Group, with the multinational conglomerate planning to deepen the localisation of its operations in Nigeria’s creative and digital economy.

Tinubu secured the commitment on Friday in Paris, France, during extensive talks with Mr Vincent Bolloré, Chairman of the Bolloré Group, as part of the President’s working vacation.

The group, whose media and digital interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group, outlined plans for expanded investments in Nigeria, particularly in film, entertainment, fibre-optic infrastructure and other related sectors.

Bolloré and his executives described Nigeria as a potential spearhead of Africa’s cultural renaissance, citing the growing global success of Nollywood and Afrobeats and rising international demand for Nigerian creative content and talent.

The development is expected to further deepen the role of Nigeria’s rapidly expanding creative and digital sectors in attracting foreign investment, creating jobs and positioning the country as a production and distribution hub for the African and global markets.

Tinubu welcomed the group’s decision to deepen its presence and operations in Nigeria, saying the country’s growing global cultural influence presented an opportunity to bring more production, investment and employment opportunities into the country.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to economic growth and job creation, particularly for young Nigerians, while stressing the importance of digitalisation in expanding economic opportunities.

He said the Federal Government would continue to support investments capable of strengthening Nigeria’s creative and digital economy, developing local talent and expanding the infrastructure required to support businesses serving Nigeria, Africa and international markets.

According to him, the Renewed Hope Agenda is aimed at building an economy where Nigeria’s talent, enterprise and growing global cultural reach can translate into increased opportunities and improved livelihoods for citizens.

Tinubu’s engagement with the Bolloré Group comes amid growing international recognition of Nigeria’s cultural industries, particularly Nollywood and Afrobeats, and renewed efforts by the Federal Government to attract investments into sectors capable of generating employment and foreign exchange.
