Tinubu wins Rivers presidential polls

Presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has secured victory from the results released in Rivers State.

Of the 23 Council results, Tinubu  won in 14 councils, Peter Obi  of Labour Party came second with five councils; while Atiku  Abubakar, the  presidential  candidate  of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), won in four councils.

Tinubu won in Obio-Akpor, Emohua, Eleme, Opobo-Nkoro, Abua-Odual, Gokana, Oyigbo, Omuma,Tai, Asari-Toru, Akuku-Toru, Khana and Ikwerre councils.

Obi secured Port Harcourt City Council, Etche, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, Bonny and Ahoada West, while  Atiku won in Andoni, Okrika, Ogu/bolo and  Degema.

Cumulatively, APC garnered 231,591 votes; LP, 175,071 and PDP, 88,468 votes.

The state collation officer, Prof. Charles Teddy Adias, announced that total registered voters were 3,315,005; total accredited voters, 605, 55; valid votes 523,651; rejected votes, 30,293 and total votes cast, 553,944.

Adias said votes were cancelled in 25 wards affected.

LP agents were seen protesting at the centre as results were being announced. They alleged the results were concocted.
