To commemorate the World Heart Day celebrated worldwide on September 29.

Total Group in Nigeria organised a bouquet of activities to mark this year’s event. Many people are unaware of the importance of their heart health and condition until it is too late.

To help bring this awareness to the fore of people’s minds, Total employees volunteered to create awareness at a medical outreach jointly executed by Total with AXA Mansard at the Ajah market roundabout area in Lagos.

Over 4,000 people were directly engaged with the use of printed educational filers and encouraged to know their ‘numbers’.

Free medical checks on the basic health parameters (blood pressure, blood sugar and Body Mass Index) were also carried out for about 500 people; and some were referred to the Badore government health facility for further attention.

Total employees were also not left out as they were given an in-depth talk on Health-at-Heart by a cardiologist from Axa-Mansard, Dr. Moronkola, on the danger signs to look out for and ways to prevent a degeneration of the heart.

To further drive down the message of a healthy heart, a “step challenge” is currently going on among staff of Total to discourage a sedentary lifestyle, the silent killer.
