Advanced Trauma Life Support Nigeria (ATLS) has unveiled trauma management course for doctors in Lagos, as part of measures to update their trauma management skills.

The ATLS Chairman, Dr. Nnamdi Nwauwa stated that trauma management training is mandatory for surgeons.

“After thorough evaluation by ATLS Sub-Committee; American College of Surgeons, Lagos was approved as a training centre for ATLS programme.”

He raised concerns about emergency departments in government hospitals, which he said need to be upgraded and updated. “I urge corporate bodies and philanthropists to support doctors who attend to emergencies to do the programme to improve their skills,” Nwauwa said.
