Udom assures FG of sustained collaboration for development
As the Nigerian Postal Services (NIPOST) plans to mark this year’s World Postal Day in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Governor Udom Emmanuel, has pledged sustained collaboration with the Federal Government and its agencies to engender development in the country.
He made the pledge, yesterday, when management of the NIPOST, Benin Zonal Headquarters led by the Zonal Manager, Mrs. Loretto Nwakanma, visited Government House, Uyo.
The governor noted that the relationship between the Federal Government and the states was anchored on the understanding that development of the states was for the benefit of the entire country.
Emmanuel, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Moses Ekpo, announced his readiness to assist in promoting the postage stamps of the agency, adding that the state government was interested in conversations that would further improve the living standards of Akwa Ibom people.
He commended NIPOST for choosing to hold the 2021 World Post Day on October 8, 2021 in Akwa Ibom and for acknowledging the contributions of the Emmanuel administration to the growth and development of Nigeria.
He commended the team for the positive things they said about the state, adding: “This will spur us to do better and contribute more. Our concern is the unity, peace and stability of Nigeria and whether we are praying or working, our government will support a peaceful and economically viable nation.”
He assured that his administration would do everything to ensure that the peace being enjoyed in Akwa Ibom through God’s grace and the security agencies, permeate other parts of the country for Nigeria to remain peaceful and united.
Earlier, Nwakanma said she and her team visited the state to prepare for the celebration of the World Post Day on October 8, 2021, pointing out that the choice of Akwa Ibom for this year’s celebration was inspired by the performance of students of the state origin in its national essay competitions in last couple of years.
She acknowledged the developmental strides of the state, describing it “as gigantic strides, which has culminated in the massive development witnessed in the state.”
Nwakanma said she was impressed by Governor Emmanuel’s transformational education policy, which she said, had enabled students from the state to continue to excel and win awards for Akwa Ibom in the last couple of years in the national essay competitions sponsored by the Universal Postal Union.
“Some students of this state have always done well in the essay competitions in the last couple of years and it’s not by accident, because the state has a transformational education policy,” she added.
