UNICEF returns 650,265 out-of-school Bauchi kids to classrooms
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has said that 650,265 children were returned to pre-primary and integrated Qur’anic education between 2012 and 2022 in Bauchi State.
UNICEF Chief of Bauchi Field Office, Dr. Tushar Rane, disclosed this, yesterday, during a three-day media dialogue on the third Girls’ Education Project (GEP-3).
Rane said that UNICEF, with funding support from development partners, was collaborating with the government to build the capacity of School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs) and Community-Based Management Committees (CBMCs) on school safety, and to make communities more resilient.
According to him, in Bauchi, through GEP-3, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) of the United Kingdom, the project effectively increased the enrolment of girls, as 650,265 enrolled into pre-primary and integrated Qur’anic education.
