The Management of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) says it has received with deep shock and sadness the news of the tragic death of Ibrahim Pilasar Mbaye, a graduate of the Department of Political Science, awaiting National Youth Service.

According to reports, the incident occurred off the University campus on Monday, July 27, 2026.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tanko Ishaya, on behalf of the University community, extends heartfelt condolences to the family of Ibrahim, his course mates, and the entire Political Science Department.

In a statement yesterday by the Deputy Registrar, Information and Public Relations, Emmanuel Madugu, Management of the University, it urges calm and assures the University community that relevant authorities are handling the matter.

“We also call on students to remain peaceful and law-abiding while investigations are ongoing. In difficult times like these, may the LORD comfort his family and the entire University community,” the statement added.‌
