President Muhammadu Buhari addressed APC Chieftains after INEC declared him President-elect.

The Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), the umbrella of all Urhobo, yesterday congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his re-election for a second term.

In a statement issued by President General of UPU, Olorogun Moses Taiga, it prayed that Buhari‘s second term would bring a fresh breath of air to national life and the country’s economy.

Taiga urged the President to work towards the unity of Nigeria, which was fragmented by the election, adding: “The election is over and you are now President and father of all.”

He also used the opportunity to inform President Buhari that he has not fulfilled the promises he made when the UPU and Urhobo traditional rulers visited him in 2018.

Buhari had promised to look into the complaints that the military has been selling land given to it by Urhobo Communities in Uvwie and Okpe for private use.

During its visit in 2018, UPU had requested that the Federal Government returned unused lands to the host communities and increase funding for the Federal University of Petroleum, Effurun (FUPRE), among other demands.
