President and founder of Stand-Up Speak-Out Initiative (SUSO), Dr Doyle Edeni, yesterday, tasked students across tertiary institutions in the country to vote wisely in the forthcoming general election and use their talents to create a country of their dream.

Edeni made the call while addressing students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) during a press conference organised by SUSO with the theme, “Students Must Vote Campaign” in Benin City, Edo State.

According to Edeni, the campaign is a citizenship advocacy aimed at discovering, acknowledging and giving voice and a platform to boost the accomplishments of honest, ingenious and hardworking citizens of Nigeria.

Edeni, who lamented the dwindling economy and bad state of the nation, said the group seeks to bring the works of men and women, who have mastered their craft and put their skills out there for service to humanity, into the light.

He added that the group does not only encourage and promote students’ interest in “Students Must Vote Campaign”, but also seeks to identify, acknowledge, provide leadership mentoring and celebrate unheralded Nigerians, who made honest efforts in their crafts to make lives better.

He added: “We are also in the forefront of grassroots community-based mass mobilisation to raise socio-cultural and political awareness of the citizenry. Our current ‘Student Must Vote Campaign ‘ is just one of many such intervention projects along this line that we are undertaking this year to bring about a perfect union amongst subsisting entities in the Nigerian state.”
