THE Police Service Commission (PSC) has distanced itself from speculations that it received a communication from the Presidency carryout special promotions for some Police officers attached to certain politicians .
The commission told The Guardian Newspapers that it has no provision for special promotion but accelerated promotion for officers in exceptional cases and under specific conditions as required .
There were online media reports making the rounds that President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of staff , Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila wrote the Police Service Commission to give special promotion to some police officers attached to politicians.
But , the Head of Media of Police Service Commission , Mr Torty Njoku Kalu told The Guardian that the commission operates within its established Act and will not embark on actions that runs in conflict with laid down procedures .
Torty debunked news describing it as baseless and false .
According to him ,” I am not aware that the Chief of staff to the President has written the commission to give special promotion to any officer.
“I also want to say that the commission does not do special promotions ,what the commission does is accelerated promotions for deserving officers who truly merit it and the reasons are usually very clear.
“We did not receive any such letter and we do not conduct special promotions.”
