We remain committed to improvement of education sector in Oyo State, says Makinde

Gov. Seyi Makinde says his administration remains committed to the improvement of the education sector in Oyo State.

Gov. Seyi Makinde says his administration remains committed to the improvement of the education sector in Oyo State.

Makinde said this on Monday during the presentation of exercise books to students of public secondary schools in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the presentation was done at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office at the State Secretariat, Agodi in Ibadan.

Makinde said that his administration was determined to focus on building infrastructure in all the state-owned public schools and continue to invest in education by renovating public schools and distributing school furniture across the state.

He said that the development would be made through direct resources of the state.

Makinde, who emphasised that his administration would continue to put in more resources to the education sector, announced that he had approved the payment of school grants to public schools in the state.

He also said that his administration would always welcome constructive criticisms that could assist his government.

He urged stakeholders in the education sector to work with the government and shun playing politics with the future of children.

“We should all work together to ensure that the future is really secured and guaranteed,” he said.

Earlier, Mr Olasunkanmi Olaleye, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, said that more than 2.7 million exercise books would be freely given to all public secondary schools in the state in Year 2021.

Olaleye said that the distribution of the free exercise books to students was to promote education in the state.
