‘We touched 644,608 lives in 150 Niger Delta communities’

Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC) has disclosed that it touched the lives of 644,608 persons in over 150 communities of the Niger Delta since 2008.

Its General Manager, External Relations, Igo Weli, who was represented by Interface Manager of Assa North, Ohaji South Gas Development Project, Ayodeji Adeleke, stated this while declaring open a health outreach programme.

The SPDC/JV Community Care Programme was launched yesterday at Ihie in Umuapu, Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State in which 7,666 persons had been reached through the Primary Treatment Facilities and Pipeline Communities in the last two years.

“Since inception of the Free Health Services Programme in 2008, we have reached 644, 608 persons from over 150 communities across the Niger Delta including commercial road transport and tanker drivers.

“On this Assa North Ohaji South Project, we have reached 7,666 persons in the past two years,” Weli said.
