We won’t allow a second Endsars protest in Calabar- Police
The Cross River Police Command has warned those trying to incite a second Endsars protest to desist or be ready to face the full wrath of the law.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo, gave the warning on Friday in Calabar during an interaction with newsmen.
Ugbo said that the police would ensure utmost professionalism on the part of its officers in the discharge of their duties.
She said that the command has received several reports pointing towards incitement of young people in the state to engage in a second protest against the police.
The PPRO, however, warned that the Command would not fold its arm and watch hoodlums take a second advantage of the people.
“There was a distress call from MCC junction a few days ago and a tactical unit responded immediately.
“Some young men were questioned in the process and the matter was resolved amicably after questioning.
“We want to use this medium to warn those who want to use this avenue as an opportunity to carry out a second EndSars protest to be cautioned.
“We are alert, anyone caught will face the full wrath of the law. We are also mindful that law-abiding citizens have rights and they must be protected; we therefore, implore anyone who feel his rights were violated to approach our office accordingly
“We will not allow a second Endsars protest in Calabar or any part of the state, never again,” she added.
She assured members of the public that police officers and men will continue to conduct themselves in utmost professional manner.
Ugbo maintained that no officer would be allowed to molest, harass or brutalize anyone unjustly.
