We’re not disturbed by plot to wrestle power in 2027, says APC

All Progressives Congress (APC), yesterday, said it was unperturbed by ongoing moves from the opposition, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP), to reportedly form a force ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, at a press conference in Abuja, asserted that there was nothing out of the ordinary since the ruling part was a product of merger of like minds prior to the 2015 polls.

He stated that APC has the wherewithal to withstand any ‘gang-up’ in the country.

The proposed merger involves the PDP; New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP); African Democratic Congress (ADC); Allied Peoples Movement (APM); Social Democratic Party (SDP); Young Progressives Party (YPP) and the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

Tagged ‘the Coalition of Concerned Political Parties (CCPP)’, the movement was formed in Abuja earlier in the week at a meeting attended by leaders of the seven political parties at the national secretariat of SDP.

The initiative is believed to have been preempted by presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2023 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, who had called on opposition parties to come together to wrestle power from the APC in 2027.

But Morka, who spoke his mind on outcome of the Kogi governorship poll won by APC’s candidate, Ahmed Ododo, called on the SDP and PDP candidates, Murtala Yakubu Ajaka and Dino Melaye, to accept the verdict in good faith, instead of indulging in any act that could promote breakdown of law and order in the state.
