Former Governor of Zamfara State and Senator representing Zamfara West Senatorial district, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar, has donated the sum of N163 million and 837 bags of assorted food items to families of victims of bandit attacks in his constituency.

The presentation was coordinated by Alhaji Sha’ayau Yusuf, Danmalikin Mafara, Zonal Coordinator of the Senator’s Constituency Office alongside other members of the delegation.

This was contained in a statement issued by the chairman, publicity committee, A.A. Yari’s political organization, Hon. Ibrahim Muhammad, Danmadami Birinin Magaji, and made available to newsmen in Gusau, Zamfara State capital.

According to the breakdown of the donation, each family of the 141 deceased persons received N1,000,000 and five bags of assorted food items consisting of two bags of rice, two bags of maize, and one bag of millet.

The statement added that, each of the 44 identified injured persons received N500,000 and three bags of assorted food items consisting of one bag of rice, one bag of maize, and one bag of millet.

Speaking during condolence visit to the palaces of the Emirs of Gummi, Bukkuyum, and Anka, the leader of the delegation and Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Zamfara West Senatorial Zone, Alhaji Hassan Marafa Damri,  described the activities of banditry as inhuman and condemnable.

He said Senator Abdul’aziz Yari remains committed to working in collaboration with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to combat insecurity affecting the North West and the country at large.

In their separate responses, the Emir of Gummi, HRH, Justice Lawal Hassan Gumm represented by Alhaji Almayau Abubakar, Sarkin Tudun Gummi, and the Emir of Bukkuyum, HRH Alhaji Muhammad Usman, expressed gratitude to Senator Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar for his kind gesture to the bereaved families and prayed to Allah to reward him abundantly.

In his response, the Emir of Anka and Chairman of Zamfara State Council of Chiefs, HRH, Alhaji Attahiru Muhammad Ahmad, described Senator Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar’s humanitarian support and gestures as next to those of the Late Sardaunan Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello of blessed memory.

He commended the Senator for his gigantic efforts, which, according to the Emir, led to his turbaning with two traditional titles from his Emirate.

The Emir also extended appreciation to the Senator for constructing a world-class Mosque in Anka, he further appealed for the expansion of the Mosque, establishment of an IDP settlement, and the continuation of the abandoned Anka to Bagega and Magami Road.

In his vote of thanks, the Chairman of Anka Local Government Council, Hon. Bashar Musa Anka, appreciated Senator Abdul’aziz Yari for the timely support to victims of banditry.

He noted that the intervention would bring relief to affected families and assured the Senator of the Council’s continued support and prayers.

The donation is part of Senator Yari’s continued commitment to providing relief and support to communities affected by insecurity in Zamfara West Senatorial District.
