Yilwatda, Zulum, others attend burial of APC national secretary’s mother

Eminent political stakeholders including the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, Borno State, Babagana Zulum, and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, on Monday converged on Osogbo Osun State capital for the burial of Mrs Sidikat Basiru, the mother of the national secretary of the ruling party, Senator, Ajibola Basiru.

It is recalled that Mrs Sidikat Basiru’s demise was announced on Sunday.

The sympathisers, most especially members of the APC and other individuals, also thronged the residence of deceased son, where the remains of his mother was interred after
janazah prayers held at Ansa ru-deen Mosque in Osogbo.

Other politicians who graced the burial include Oyo State governorship candidate of the APC, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, his counterpart in Osun, Bola Oyebamiji and former deputy governor in the state during former administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola administration, Mrs Titi-Laoye Ponle.

The duo of Yilwatda and Zulum attended the prayer at the mosque, while Aiyedatiwa arrived minutes after the conclusion of the burial rites before heading to Senator Basiru’s residence where he condoled with him.

Speaking during the burial ceremony, Basiru appreciated the presence of the dignataries just as he extolled the virtue of his mother.

He stated: “She was a devoted Muslim, she brought us in the way of Allah, in fact a few times that we had quarrel was when I was not then very diligent in my timing of prayer, so whatever you do, and you don’t do your prayer as at when due, not that you accumulate prayer, it doesn’t go well with my mother.

“She believes in family, and you know, I come from a polygamist home, she always enjoins us to see ourselves and our step-brothers as one, and our step-sister, and you can see all of us are here and we’re here together today, so I will miss her, “Basiru added.
