The Yoruba National Community in Italy has described the appointment of Ambassador-designate Abimbola Samuel Reuben as a clear demonstration of her competence, dedication and capacity for higher national service.

The association said that the ambassadorial nominee was capable and able to deliver on the President Bola Tinubu’s agenda for the Nigeria’s people both in Italy and in Nigeria.

Reuben was recently designated as a Nigeria’s ambassador to Italy by Tinubu.

In a congratulatory letter, dated March 30, 2026, jointly signed by its President, Kolawole Oladele and National General Secretary, Abolaji Adedayo and released to the media, the group said Reuben’s nomination was well-deserved and reflective of her outstanding track record.

According to the association, the appointment not only recognises her personal achievements, but also brings pride to the Yoruba community both in Nigeria and across the diaspora.

The group noted that her elevation to a diplomatic role shows the enduring values of the Yoruba people, particularly the Omoluabi ethos, which emphasises honour, discipline and excellence.

They further stated that Reuben’s career progression, including her service as Consul (Welfare) in the United States, has been marked by commitment and professionalism, making her the right choice for the ambassadorial position.

The group added that her achievement serves as an inspiration to young people and women, especially within the Nigerian community in Italy, reinforcing the belief that dedication and perseverance could lead to national recognition.

Expressing confidence in her ability to excel, the group said it believed Reuben would strengthen international relations and uphold the highest standards of diplomacy in her new role.

The Yoruba National Community Italy also pledged its continued support and goodwill to the ambassador-designate as she prepares to assume her responsibilities very soon.

The letter read in part: “This distinguished recognition is a testament to your exemplary dedication, integrity and outstanding service to the nation. Your elevation to this esteemed diplomatic position honours, not only honours your personal achievements, but also brings immense pride to the Yoruba community, both at home and in the diaspora.

“Your remarkable achievement is as an inspiration to our youth and women in Italy and a reaffirmation that with commitment and perseverance, as exhibited while you served the nation as Consul -Welfare in the US, greatness is attainable.”

Reuben is among recent ambassadorial nominees expected to represent Nigeria in various countries.
