The Chairman of Zing local government council in Taraba state, Prince Davoro K. Titus Gwandis, has inaugurated the Organising Committee for the 50th anniversary of the creation of the local government, charging members to deliver an inclusive and memorable Golden Jubilee celebration.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Zing on Thursday, Gwandis described the golden jubilee as a historic milestone that offers an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the council over the past five decades while charting a path for future development.

He said the anniversary would honour the vision of the founding fathers of Zing local government, acknowledge the sacrifices of past and present leaders, and celebrate the resilience, unity and accomplishments of the people.

According to the chairman, Zing local government has made significant contributions to the development of Taraba state and Nigeria since its creation, citing its rich cultural heritage, peaceful and hardworking people, fertile land, and abundant human and natural resources as major assets that continue to drive its growth and identity.

Gwandis said the celebration would extend beyond ceremonial activities, noting that it is intended to showcase the history and cultural heritage of the area, recognise distinguished sons and daughters of Zing, attract development partners and investors, and promote sustainable development.

He said members of the organising committee were selected based on their integrity, competence, experience and dedication, expressing confidence in their ability to organise a successful and inclusive celebration.

The chairman urged the committee to discharge its responsibilities with commitment, transparency, creativity and patriotism, while ensuring that all communities, traditional institutions, religious bodies, youth groups, women and other stakeholders are actively involved in the planning process.

He also tasked the committee with developing a comprehensive programme of activities that reflects the history, culture, achievements and aspirations of Zing Local Government Area, stressing that the celebration should serve as a lasting reference point for future generations.

Gwandis assured the committee of the council’s full support and cooperation, pledging to provide the necessary guidance and assistance within available resources to ensure the successful execution of its mandate.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the inauguration, the committee’s Publicity Secretary, Nyameh John Kotasori, assured residents that members would spare no effort to ensure the success of the Golden Jubilee celebration.

Zing local government council, which was formerly part of the defunct Gongola state, became one of the local government areas of Taraba state following the creation of the state in 1991.
