Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has engaged 40 doctors to boost healthcare in the state.
The medical doctors, mostly females, were trained in Sudan, the United States of America, United Arab Emirates and the University of Maiduguri.
Directing the Ministry of Health and Chief Medical Director, State’s Specialist Hospital, Dr. Laraba Bello, on Friday, to immediately employ the doctors, Zulum disclosed: “The dearth of doctors is a matter of great concern to people’s lives and wellbeing.”
He noted the need for doctors to strengthen and sustain the state’s healthcare delivery system, warning that if the doctors were not willing to work with the state, they should not bother to seek engagement.
Responding, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Mohammed Ghuluze, assured the governor that the doctors would be employed with immediate effect to save more lives.
