Oshodi interchange

Sir: The Oshodi transport interchange, a multi-billion naira project started by the last administration must not be allowed to rot away. Since the government is said to be a continuum, the Lagos government under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, must, for God’s sake, see to its completion.

It is true that every government has its own area of focus and the task before the Lagos government is particularly daunting and enormous. It is also true that the Oshodi project may be capital intensive for anyone to want to embark on its completion more so since the incumbent government was never part of the project in the first place. But considering its location at the centre of the city and the huge fund already deployed, it would not be good enough to declare it as an abandoned project. If the project had been a huge mistake, the incumbent government should accept it as an error too conspicuous to be wished away.

Besides, its completion will definitely add to the glamour of Lagos as a centre of excellence. Sanwo-Olu should, therefore, be magnanimous enough to complete what now seems like a white elephant project begun by his predecessor. It must not be allowed to become a hideout for hardened criminals as it is gradually turning out to be.

Jide Oyewusi, Lagos.
