The loud silence (Death) of a civil rights activist!
SIR: Comrade Elijah Cummings, any time I visit your catacomb (graveyard and resting place), my epitaph on your tombstone will read:
“Here lies the man who fought for the emancipation of man through human and civil rights activism to bring amity to the beleaguered world.” •Yahaya Balogun
Rest in peace to one of the civil rights activists, icons of inspiration and emancipators of our generation. The evil or good that men and women do live after them, even after they’re expired. The pertinent question is: what do we want to be inscribed on our tombstones when we kick the bucket (die)? A million-dollar question that is left to conscientise those who have their conscience intact!
When the time is ripe for an important event, it doesn’t happen by happenstance. It occurs at the appointed and appropriate time in the sight of Providence! Elijah Cummings, the enigmatic man in the political life of America, and American exceptionalism closes his eyes and bids GOODBYE to the troubled world.
Death is a necessary end: it will come when it will come! But when death comes and snatches our contemporaries from us, it speaks a loud universal language to all of us to prepare for an unending journey to the unknown! Sir Elijah Cummings has done and played his part in the rehabilitation of a beleaguered world.
Remember, as we are all jostling in futility for the nothingness of this odd and beautiful world, every day of our lives is a countdown to that inevitable DAY! Are we preparing for that inevitability of life? WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WRITTEN ON YOUR TOMBSTONE?
May the gentle soul of this quintessential civil rights activist rest in perfect peace.
