Trouble in Zimbabwe where enough is finally enough
The first intimations of disturbances took place on Monday July 3rd. An announcement was made to the effect that Zimbabweans must stay at home on Wednesday the 6th of July. People are to stay at home. Workers are not to go to work. School children are not to go to school. Parents are advised not to take their children to school. Teachers must not go to school. Civil servants who have not been paid are to stay at home.
The people are to shut down the country. They are not to protest in the streets. They are not to match on the streets. They are to stay at home. There will be no violence if we are not on the street.
Here is the notice doing the rounds in the country by social media since there are no opposition newspapers in the country:Zimbabweans it’s time to wake up. Let’s rise and save our beloved Zimbabwe. Our government no longer cares for us. No jobs, we are struggling to maintain our wellbeing to survive and government is blocking all clean survival channels. They have banned the importation of good is so that we buy their expensive products. The government is failing to pay civil servants. Which industry are we protecting? Let that industry compete with imports until it produces affordable goods and we will decide for ourselves which products to buy.
People were surviving through cross border to help themselves. Stop telling us about import license because we know that they will be given to Mphoko, Kasukuwere, Obert Mpofu and other ministers. Police are all over the roads stealing people’s money and products. We want the government to lift up the ban on imports and to remove or reduce the Zimbabwe Roadblock Police from our roads and to remove spot fines until we have money as a matter of urgency before Wednesday 6 July 2016.
Fellow Zimbabweans, don’t go to work as from 6 July until this is solved. Burn every shop, service station or any business that will open its doors for trading.Block all roads with whatever object you can. Block all traffic and if they resist burn the cars. No cars on the road by 6 July, if any 1 resists go and burn their property at night.
ZRP Just let us do the demo in peace and we will leave you in peace on 6 July. We can’t let people in South Africa and Botswana fight for us while we remain seated. All youths plié mobs u she, this has no party politics it’s a national issue because whatever party you belong we suffer the same.
Pliz forward to all your contacts, Facebook, whatsapp, email, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
On Tuesday July 5 this message was sent from a Zimbabwe Republic Police:I am a ember of the security forces at a very high level. I want to assure Zimbabweans that the generality of the security forces are all with you. We have seen our bosses panicking. We have a lot of pressure coming from the first family more than from our bosses.
The security forces resources are too little and the personnel resources are too demotivated to be in the street fighting the same people who didn’t only keep us going but also give us accommodation. Who are we without the masses. We rent your houses.
Our teargas banks are very dwindled and government knows that we cannot last a week. Our cars are broken down, we only have a few and we all know you will burn them down soon. We have no reason to be fighting the people whom we are meant to be protecting. Please don’t beat these young police officers unless they threaten or beat you up. Personally I urge you to continue protesting peacefully, return violence where u are provoked. Target minister private businesses.
The few police officers injured will make it clear to others that they should stop hitting people. We will need nurses to look after us yet we are beating them and harassing. We need teachers to teach our children well in class yet we are beating and harassing us. We know we only got paid before you because we are used to protect this corrupt government.
The terrible corruption going on in the roadblocks is a disgrace for most of us in police, but it’s a enrichment tool for few bosses. We want to be a respectful force. We need the reform the masses of Zimbabwe have initiated. Zimbabwe Republic Police force cannot control Harare if you the people of Zimbabwe decide to protest from all Harare locations, how can we control the whole country on protest – the bosses know.
Politicians are not sleeping. Mphoko is afraid he is easiest target. Mnangagwa is very reluctant to advise because Mugabe does not listen. Grace have started preparing for exile, they are afraid and they know the sooner they run away the better.
Keep going out brothers and sisters. The country has no money. The security forces will not be paid this month because chinamasa could not get loans from Europe. And chinamasa coming empty handed will make Mugabe and his family start shaking. Trust me. Don’t lose hope. Genuine police are all behind you. I am one of them. Don’t kill us we love you. We are part of you. Yes return fight for those who are assaulting civilian.
Watch the situation, you will realise that some police officers will not beat people even when some are beating.Do not loot private businesses. Don’t let police take some protesters easy, fight and get them free. Thank you.
Please share this messages (sic) from a high rank ZRP. End of message.
The question is: How will it all end?It is difficult to say mainly because the revolt does not have a recognisable leadership. There is no face to the revolt. Social Media has not succeeded in leading any of the Springs of recent times.
Another reason is that those in the front line of the government are not going to make it easy for the revolt by going into exile.
Trouble is in Zimbabwe.
