The Nasarawa State Government has debunked media reports alleging that Governor Abdullahi Sule held a private discussion with Atiku Abubakar in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for a spiritual exercise.
It was gathered that the governor, while in Mecca to perform lesser Hajj promised financial backing to assist efforts targeted at defeating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 election.
This was contained in a statement singed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Addra and obtained by our correspondent in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.
According to the statement, government described the report as “a complete fabrication, false in its entirety, and did not happen.”
The statement, which reads in part, maintained that, “The Governor did not hold any meeting with Atiku or his associates during the spiritual exercise.”
It added that Governor Sule has consistently used every available platform to extol the leadership qualities of President Tinubu and to affirm support for the administration.
The government warned certain political actors of attempting to sabotage and stain the cordial relationship that has been existing between President Tinubu and the governor, expressing optimism that the plan would fail.
The statement, however, disclosed that Atiku’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe, explained that he was unaware of any such meeting.
The Nasarawa State Government stated that APC governors are fully behind Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisting that no false report could affect their loyalty to him.
