Another member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the House of Representatives Jimoh Aremu Olaifa has dumped the party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawmaker representing Egbado North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency in Ogun State said he joined the APC for the benefit of his constituents.

“I’ll rather join the APC that will have my people benefit from the dividend of democracy,” Olaifa said in his defection letter read by House of Representatives Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila.

Olaifa is the fifth House of Representatives member to join the APC in about four months.

A former ADC member Peter Makinde joined the APC in February 2021.

Makinde cited leadership crisis and division within his party as the reason for defection.

Before Makinde’s defection, two members of the House of Representatives also defected to the APC on Tuesday, February 16.

Blessing Onuh, the lawmaker representing Otukpo/Ohimini federal constituency, defected from the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) to the APC.

Also, Yakubu Abdullahi, the member representing Bauchi federal constituency, dumped the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) for APC.
