Action Democratic Party (ADP)

As the March 3, 2018 local government election approaches, the Action Democratic Party (ADP) has urged the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) to ensure a level playing field for all candaites to enable it have a credible election.
A chieftain of the ADP, Pius Alile, who made the call also assured the people of Egor and Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency of his commitment to the uplift of the downtrodden as well as empowerment of women and youths in the federal constituency.
He stated this when he addressed supporters under the aegis of Hon. Pius Alile Support Group at the Benin Airport on his arrival from Europe where he said he went to sensitize Nigerians in the diaspora on the programmes of the ADP.
Also speaking, the ADP chairmanship candidate for Egor Local Government Area in 3 March Edo state local government election, Agharese Adodo, praised Alile who he described as a patriot and philanthropist.
They berated the All Progressives Congress (APC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for their alleged failure to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people in the last eighteen years.
Alile later visited the local government secretariat of the party where he donated a water spraying machine to members of Egor Farmers Association.

Meanwhile, a former governorship aspirant of the APC and Deputy Woman Leader of the party, Mrs. Tina Agbarha, has dumped the ruling party for the PDP.

Receiving her, Edo State chairman of PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, said the defection was a clear indication that the party was working to achieve success in the forthcoming election.

Orbih who described Agbarha as a grassroots politician and mobilizer said the APC in Igueben Local Government Council and Edo State was in trouble following her declaration for the PDP.

Agbarha said the APC lacks internal democracy and no respect for dedicated members who worked hard for it.

She claimed the APC leaders in the state described her as not having the capacity to become the Igueben local council chairman, adding that she was used  and dumped having helped the party to garner votes during the governorship election that produced Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Agbarha added: “As a woman leader, I could not access the governor’s office and home. I can not also have access to my Deputy Governor and can not have access to our party leaders home at Iyamho.”

Prominent defectors from the APC to the PDP in the state recently include Chief Blessing Agbomhere, a former governorship aspirant from Edo North Senatorial District and Mr. Isaiah Osifo, an erstwhileChief of Staff to State Government from South Senatorial District.
