APC congratulates Obiano

* Don’t go to court, Okorocha advises contestants

Governors Rochas Okorocha (Imo) and Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto) have congratulated their counterpart in Anambra State, Willie Obiano, for emerging victorious in the last weekend election.

Okorocha advised losers not to contest the outcome of the poll at the courts, saying he was convinced that Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) emerged winner due to hispopularity among the people in the state.

In a statement, Okorocha said: “Obiano’s victory was too clear to be contested or questioned and I, therefore, advised the candidates of other political parties who took part in the election to congratulate him and avoid going to court to question his victory.

Tambuwal described Obiano’s victory as a manifestation of the trust and confidence of his people in his leadership.

He urged the Anambra governor to rise above partisan consideration and carry along all people, including his opponents, in the task of building the state. He also appealed to those who lost in the election to accept the result in good faith and cooperate with the winner in the interest of the people.

Governor Obiano has dedicated his victory at the poll to the masses, including the wheel barrow pushers, Okada operators, and farmers who have foresight for the future.

In his acceptance speech, the governor stated that the victory belongs neither to him nor to his great party, APGA, but to all citizens of Anambra.

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Oseloka Obaze also congratulated Obiano. He said he will not challenge the election in court.

The ruling APC similarly congratulated Obiano on his victory.

The party, in a statement by its national Publicity Secretary, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi also congratulated the party’s candidate Dr. Tony Nwoye for his impressive performance at the election and his graciousness in conceding defeat.

Commending the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what is regarded as a credible election, which passes the integrity test, it praised the high level of dedication and professionalism displayed by the security agencies and other ad-hoc staff mobilised for the election.

The apex Igbo organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo urged Obiano to be magnanimous in victory and extend the hand of fellowship to his opponents.

In a congratulatory message, the group’s president general, Chief Nnia Nwodo, lauded Obiano’s opponents for a healthy and competitive encounter.

Similarly, the National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Oye, expressed appreciation to the state electorate for the massive votes cast for the party and its candidate.o to court
