A group of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Borno State, under the auspices of Concerned PDP Grassroots Stakeholders Congress has extended a hand of fellowship to Senator Ali Modu Sheriff to join hands with the Ahmed Makarfi leadership of the party.

The reason for the extension of the olive branch, according to the group, was to have a strong formidable party in the state.

Chairman of the group, Usman Ibrahim disclosed this on at a news conference in Maiduguri where he said, “It is no longer news that the political crisis lingering in our party has come to an end with the Supreme Court judgment of 12th July 2017 which declared Senator Ahmed Makarfi as the substantive National Caretaker Chairman.

“I therefore call on Senator Ali Modu Sheriff faction to join hands with Makarfi so that we will build a strong PDP not only in this state, but the whole country.”

He said the victory of Makarfi as Chairman of the PDP is a victory for democracy and Nigerians in general. He commended the judiciary for the positive and right decision adding, “It is high time all of us come together under one umbrella to take the nation and Borno State in particular to the promise land where all people will have a sense of belonging come 2019.”

At the state level, he said the party leaders are doing everything possible to fix the party to its desired position, so that PDP can take over power in 2019 and also called those who left the party due to impunity to come back so that they will rebuild the platform.”

Ibrahim therefore appealed to all PDP members to avoid utterances that can bring disunity within the party and assured them that they will be carried along in the new PDP movement.
