Presidential aide and public affairs analyst, Daniel Bwala, has pledged to intensify efforts against what he described as a coordinated campaign of disinformation targeting President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Bwala, who recently joined the President’s communications team, said on Wednesday that his role goes beyond policy advocacy to include actively countering the spread of fake news and politically motivated falsehoods.
“This is my job as a spokesman,” Bwala stated. “In addition to communicating PBAT’s [President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s] policies, I am also on red alert to take down any drone of fake news, misinformation, disinformation, and gbajue-formation.”
In a follow-up post on Friday via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Bwala accused a group he referred to as a “coalition of internally displaced politicians” of deliberately trying to incite conflict between loyalists of former President Muhammadu Buhari and those of President Tinubu.
“These coalition of internally displaced politicians are using their media goons to try to create a conflict between Buhari boys and Tinubu boys,” Bwala wrote.
He alleged that recent attempts to misinterpret public remarks by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, were part of a broader effort to sow division within the ruling political bloc.
“They misquoted, misread, and misinterpreted Honourable Boss Mustapha. They also falsely attributed an article to Garba Shehu, calling me names just to provoke me into a public spat. But they failed. Garba and I have since talked it out,” he added.
Bwala described the unnamed group as a “hydra-headed coalition, looking like an octopus on a wild goose chase,” and insisted that such tactics would not derail the administration’s focus.
His comments follow a wave of political commentary and online posts suggesting deepening divisions between the camps of the current and former presidents, both of whom are key figures in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
