Group rallies Cross River youths for Tinubu, Otu
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has pledged to conduct an issue-based campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning politicians and their supporters against violence, inflammatory statements, and other actions that could threaten the prevailing peace in the state.
The party also declared that it would not resort to electoral malpractice, insisting that its campaign would be anchored on the performance of President Bola Tinubu’s administration at the federal level and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s government in Delta State.
The Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Delta State APC Campaign Council, Mr Charles Aniagwu, gave the assurance yesterday in Asaba while unveiling the committee’s members to journalists.
Aniagwu said the party was committed to a peaceful electoral process and would focus on presenting its achievements and programmes to the electorate rather than engaging in violence or activities that could undermine the credibility of the 2027 elections.
He, however, cautioned political actors against making statements that could incite violence, warning that inflammatory rhetoric could prompt supporters to take the law into their own hands.
According to him, the state government would not tolerate violence from any individual or political group, irrespective of political affiliation or background.
In a separate media interaction in Asaba yesterday, the Director-General of the Integrity Group of Nigeria, Delta State chapter, Dr Oke Idawene, commended Tinubu for what he described as efforts to restore the country’s dignity and improve the Nigerian economy.
Idawene said the President had demonstrated courage and preparedness in addressing the country’s challenges.
MEANWHILE, the Evidence Group, a youth-led support movement of APC in Cross River State, has called on residents to support Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu in the 2027 general elections.
The group made the call yesterday in Calabar South during the grand finale of its statewide local council tour, where party loyalists urged voters to mobilise grassroots support for APC candidates.
The Director-General of the group, Edem Bassey, urged youths to take an active role in determining the state’s political future by participating in the electoral process and mobilising voters.
“Our youths must take responsibility for determining the future of our state. We must come out in large numbers to vote and mobilise others to support candidates who will advance our collective interests,” he said.
Bassey also called for unity among residents, saying grassroots mobilisation would be critical to the party’s chances in the 2027 elections.
