The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is to inaugurate its gubernatorial campaign committees on Saturday, January 5, 2019, in the capital, Asaba.

The APC’s gubernatorial candidate, Olorogun Great Ovedje Ogboru, will lead thousands of party chieftains and select members from the 3,670 units, 270 wards and 25 local government areas (LGAs), in the state to the occasion.

However, according to a statement by Mr. Zik Zulu Okafor, Media Director, Great Ogboru Campaign Organisation, the event is not a rally. He quoted Ogboru as saying: “it is for the inauguration of the different committees for the governorship campaign at all levels from the state, LGAs to the wards and units. It is, therefore, not envisioned to be a crowdy occasion. It is purely a strategic event, tactical in concept and execution to achieve a decisive victory at the governorship polls.”

Ogboru, an Urhobo from Delta Central, whose mother hails from Ukwani (North) and wife an Ijaw (South), “for which reason he is fondly called a Total Deltan, the man known for his granite-cast integrity holds a fervent hope that the inauguration of these critical committees will be a defining moment and a cardinal action towards the actualization of the yearning of the good people of Delta State for a humane government that will turn their misery into a mystery and miracle of hope and triumph through economic empowerment,” the statement said..

The vision and mission of Ogboru who holds an MBA from Huron University of South Dakota, London Campus and a Master of International Relations from the University of Kent in Canterbury are captured in his inspirational mantra and manifesto entitled, “Delta Liberation 2019.”
