Professionals for good governance and social justice, yesterday, alleged that the February 25 presidential election did not reflect the will of Nigerians and therefore the result cannot be accepted.

Professionals for good governance and social justice, yesterday, alleged that the February 25 presidential election did not reflect the will of Nigerians and therefore the result cannot be accepted.

In a statement signed by the Convener of the group, Ben Chukwu, they called on the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Trades Union Congress (TUC), Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) and Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), among others to join the group to rectify the outcome of the election.

Chukwu said it was time to demand that every vote be counted and every voice be heard, adding that corruption, barefaced lies and outright deception that have plagued Nigerian politics for far too long must be brought to an end.

He said: “We know that this is a difficult moment for all of us. But we cannot give up hope. We cannot give up on our vision of a better future, a better Nigeria. Therefore, let us stand up for what is right. Let us reject these election results, and let us demand a new result that truly reflects the votes by the people in the February 25 election.

“Clearly, the results of this election do not reflect the true will of the people. We have seen too many blatant irregularities, too many instances of culpable voter suppression, and too many cases of daredevil fraud.

“This is definitely not the democracy we believe in. This is not the Nigeria that we know and love. Fellow Nigerians, we cannot stand idly by, while our voices are silenced and our rights trampled upon. We must rectify the wrong, and we must do so with every fiber of our being.”
