Idemili North by-election holds same day with Anambra governorship
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved the conduct of the by-election in Idemili North State Constituency in Anambra State alongside the governorship election November 18, this year to maximise resource utilisation and ensure timely representation of the constituency in the State House of Assembly.
In a timetable and schedule of activities for the by-election, the commission said political parties wishing to field candidates for the exercise are required to conclude their primaries by October 31, while campaign closes on November 16.
INEC had earlier explained that where two elections are taken together, additional ballot box would be added in the affected constituency to accommodate the ballots for the additional election.
In the case of the Idemili North, voters in the constituency would experience two elections; hence two ballot boxes: one for the governorship election and another for the state Assembly election, while results for the two elections would be declared at respective constituency levels.
