Chairman of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ralphs Nwosu, has accused embattled party’s presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu, of retaining his membership of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said incontrovertible evidence available to the party revealed that Kachikwu is still a card-carrying member of PDP, adding that in the coming days, the party hopes to avail Nigerians, especially ADC members, of how far the ‘expelled’ candidate went in his attempt to “derail” the party.

Assuring that the party has put together foolproof strategies to return maximum number of its National Assembly, governorship and state assembly candidates, Nwosu stated: “We will show the world how we got here and the path ADC has taken to achieve victory.

“It has been 100 days that Dumebi Kachikwu emerged the candidate of our great party, the ADC. Rather than embark on any form of consultation, planning and strategic work to leverage the party and consolidate his candidacy, he has had a stranglehold on the neck of NWC (National Working Committee) members with the intention to sniff life out of the party for ominous reasons.

“As at today, Kachikwu has not resigned his membership of PDP. He rather chose to arrogate ADC’s imperial majesty-ship to himself and committing all illegalities. He not only lured some state chairmen into convening an illegal National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, but also tried to dissolve the NWC and continued to dehumanise our party and blackmail ADC leaders and critical stakeholders.”

The chairman further explained that 100 days after winning the party’s primary, recent surveys have shown where other candidates and parties stand, lamenting that “Dumebi thinks he can lock down ADC for his selfish designs.”

He continued: “We are not wheeling dealers. We cannot succumb to evil machinations of mercantilist politicians. I urge all ADC candidates and supporters not to be distracted, rather to remain steadfast in engaging with their constituencies.

“With commitment and focus on greater ideals that define our party, we shall effectively deal with the monster to stop the cancer. No matter the darkness, ADC must arise and shine. Rest assured that in no time, all candidates and stakeholders will see a rejuvenated ADC.”
