African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled former National President of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr. Idris Omede, as deputy governorship candidate of the party for the November 11 election.

Leke Abejide, House of Representatives member for Yagba Federal Constituency, is the party’s governorship flagbearer.  Unveiling Omede, yesterday, at the party headquarters in Lokoja, Abejide assured Kogi people of his readiness to lead the state strictly on the tenets of justice and equity, to ensure development and peaceful coexistence.

He stated that Kogi needed a governor with a strong will and genuine inclination towards development. The guber hopeful added that his government would focus on the welfare of workers and pensioners.

The ADC candidate also promised to grant autonomy to the 21 local councils to serve the grassroots and curb insecurity in the state. He further stated that the education sector in the state would receive more funding to improve the lives of youths.

According to him, the Leke/Omede candidacy is on a mission to rescue the people of Kogi from starvation. Omede, a former Commissioner for Health in Kogi, also served as the National President, Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN) and an accomplished medical doctor.

He appreciated Abejide for his numerous projects and achievements in his constituency, as well as his desire to rescue the state. Kogi, he asserted, needed a government that understands inclusiveness and development.

Omede said: “We have come to give practical solutions to the problems of the people, to meet their long-awaited dividends of democracy.” He enjoined Kogi people to look beyond party affiliations and work together to make the state succeed through Leke/Omede as governor and deputy governor.
