The Business Owners and Traders at Island Computer City (ICC), yesterday, declared their support for the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his achievement and inclusiveness towards the people of the Southeast in his administration.

The traders, who are under the auspices of The Amalgamated Computer Stationery and Allied Trader Association of Nigeria (ACSATAN), expressed optimism that his re-election for a second term would ensure development and conducive environment for all.

The President of the association, Chris Onyekachi, who said the association had restructured and admitted new members to ensure unity of purpose, especially during the general elections, added that the governor had impressed them.

Onyekachi said Sanwo-Olu’s ability to unite the diverse ethnic groups in Lagos, as well as upholding religious tolerance among all Lagosians, had not gone unnoticed by the body.

He said: “We are here to endorse and converse for Governor Sanwo-Olu, for his re-election on Saturday, March 11. We are doing this because he has been a loving governor and has run an inclusive government; this is why we have gathered en masse to support him. We desire his continuity.

“It is guaranteed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will win this election regardless of what happened in the state at the presidential election. The present administration has ensured the security of life and property in the state. As Igbos, we are appreciative of the governor’s efforts. With our support, we are confident that governor Sanwo-Olu’s second term in office is secured.”

The Secretary of the group, Sebastian Okoye, said the engagement was important because Sanwo-Olu needs the votes of everybody, while the traders also need his assistance in the community.

“I don’t believe that all Igbo’s in Lagos are supporting the Labour Party (LP), it is superstitious to think so. Election is local and the way you engage with the people matters a lot.”

“I advise the youths to come out en masse and vote for Sanwo-Olu. He has done a lot in the state. We can see the infrastructural development and how he combated the COVID-19 pandemic.”

On his part, Chairman of the Ward, Semiu Ayilara, noted that the APC is not happy with the outcome of presidential election, where the LP defeated the ruling party, adding however, that the party cleared the three senatorial seats and won 22 out of the 24 House of Representatives seats in the state.

“This time around, we are rallying round every tribe in the state to garner support for the re-election bid of Governor Sanwo-Olu to show that we are one,” he said.
