A member of the House of Representatives representing Egbado South/Ipokia Federal Constituency, Hon. Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade, has called on stakeholders in Ogun West to embrace unity of purpose and prioritise peace ahead of the 2027 general elections in the state.
Akinlade made the call while speaking on Yewa politics and the need for peace and cohesion in Ogun West as preparations for the next general elections gather momentum.
He urged stakeholders of Yewa extraction to eschew actions capable of undermining the collective aspiration of Ogun West, stressing that only an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity would allow the best candidate to emerge.
According to him, for Yewa to “get it right,” all hands must be on deck to develop strategies and modalities for producing a consensus candidate, rather than individuals working at cross purposes.
The four-term lawmaker cautioned party faithful against politics of bitterness, noting that while members are free to align with any political tendency, such engagements should be pursued within the bounds of party discipline and mutual respect.
He stressed that decisions on party candidates would be taken at the appropriate time, urging patience and maturity among stakeholders.
On development, Akinlade reminded stakeholders that he has remained at the forefront of Ogun West’s advancement for over 15 years, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, information technology and job creation for unemployed youths across the zone.
He emphasised that youth empowerment remains one of the most critical aspects of his public service record, noting that his initiatives have had a positive and lasting impact on society.
“I have a covenant with my God. I came into this world with nothing, and I will return with nothing. What gives me joy is extending a helping hand to people,” he said.
“Our empowerment initiatives have helped redefine unemployment rates in Ogun West and the state at large.”
The lawmaker also lauded the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying it has begun to reshape Nigeria’s economic and infrastructural landscape.
He argued that the Federal Government’s policy framework has revitalised the system and laid a solid foundation for national development, adding that Tinubu deserves a second term based on his economic recovery agenda.
Akinlade further commended Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun for driving economic growth and positioning the state as one of Nigeria’s leading industrial hubs.
