The Plateau State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Chris Hassan, has assured citizens of the state, especially the party faithful, that Governor Caleb Mutfwang is not in any way leaving for any other political party but would work for the success of the party in line with the shared philosophy of the people.
Hassan called on all party faithful not to be jittery, as the PDP leadership is working assiduously to consolidate the gains recorded, as well as provide the needed platform for the aspirations of their members.
He stated this during a press conference held at the party secretariat in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
He said the party had noted the isolated instances of defections by some members in the country, just as he assured that the confidence, strength and credibility of the PDP in Plateau State remain unshaken.
“Addressing the issue of defections, we have noted the isolated instances of defections by a few party members to other political parties.
“Let me, therefore, urge all loyal party faithful to remain calm and resolute. Defections are not new in the political process. However, we are confident that the strength and credibility of the PDP in Plateau State remain unshaken.
“Be assured that the leadership of the party is working assiduously to consolidate our gains and will continue to provide the needed platform for the aspirations of our people. Everything is under control, and better days lie ahead,” he noted.
Flanked by other party executives, Hassan commended the state governor for exemplary leadership in the state and the region.
“The PDP Plateau State Chapter wholeheartedly commends His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for the outstanding leadership and good governance he continues to offer the people of Plateau State.
“In just two years, His Excellency has achieved monumental successes where the previous administration fell short over eight years. His developmental strides, commitment to justice, equity, and service to the people are truly remarkable,” he noted.
The party chairman condemned the renewed attacks on innocent communities that claimed so many lives with property worth millions of naira destroyed by suspected Fulani militias.
“The PDP Plateau State Chapter strongly condemns the recent attacks by Fulani militias in Bokkos and Bassa LGAs. We commend Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his swift response, including visits to the affected communities and the convening of a decisive stakeholders meeting that served as a true call to action. We also acknowledge the proactive efforts of the state’s security agencies.
“The visits of the Inspector-General of Police on behalf of the President, the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, Maj. Gen. Folusho Oyinlola, underscore the Federal Government’s serious concern for the security of Plateau State. Their coordinated efforts have already produced results, with military operations successfully dislodging the militias from Ta’agbe community into Kaduna State,” the chairman stated.
He said the Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH)/GOC 3 Division, working closely with other security outfits, is currently leading an active operation aimed at neutralising remaining threats and restoring peace to the affected communities.
Hassan called for Community-Based Security Initiatives to mitigate the losses often encountred from the attackers.
“We strongly support and commend the governor’s call for communities to organise and coordinate local security networks in collaboration with neighboring communities.
“This grassroots-driven approach is a proactive and inclusive strategy that recognises the peculiar security challenges of each locality. It reflects a leadership deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of its people. Indeed, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has once again demonstrated that he is a leader who loves and stands firmly with his people,” Hassan stated.
