Davido and Governor Adeleke

Global music icon, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, on Tuesday in Ede, said the political battle for the re-election of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, last Saturday, was won more than year ago through the delivery of masses oriented projects and impactful policies.

He said despite the overwhelming presence of over 30 governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC), 50 senators and federal lawmakers, Osun electorate reaffirmed their support for Adeleke.

Speaking during an interactive session with journalists, Adeleke noted that the governor’s re-election was propelled by service to humanity and fulfillment of promises to the citizenry rather than monetary inducement deployed by the opposition.

He noted that the courage demonstated by the people to monitor and defend their votes was legendary and commendable, assuring that the state would witness more socioeconomic growths in the next four years.

According to Davido, “we came out victorious in this governorship election, God is grateful. To the Osun people, that voted for us and defended their votes from the polling units, all the way to the local coalition centers, the love was there.

“I really want to thank the Osun people for standing by the Adeleke family, and making sure we are re-elected. We have so much future plans for the state, myself the chairman of the Sport Trust Fund, I want to do a lot of things.

“We will soon get the stadium project completed, I will visit the Stadium today, there are plans to also build a recreational center for the youths, which involves, football field, swimming pools, tennis, basketball, track, and so on.

“Another project we are looking at, is creating a concert centre, I think before the inauguration in December, we will have it in Osun, “Davido remarked.

While disclosing that he was worried over the tendency to allegedly manipulate the poll, he said “I was just a little bit weary on manipulations in situations but apart from that we thank God that the Osun people stood firm and made it happen.

Davido, however, clarified that he had future political ambition, explaining that he would prefer to focus on youth empowerment and development to guarantee the future of the state.
