Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South in the Senate, has claimed that Nigeria would have been better off if the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi, had won the 2023 presidential election.

Abaribe said this during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday.

Abaribe criticised the current administration of President Bola Tinubu, accusing it of nepotism, stating that it would have been non-existent under Obi’s presidency.

He noted the appointment of four ministers from Ogun State as evidence of nepotism in Tinubu’s administration.

“If Peter Obi had won, you probably would have seen a better Nigeria than what we are seeing today,” Abaribe said.

“Number one, he would not be as nepotistic as this government; he won’t; it’s not in him. That is just who we are; we feel for the other people.”

The senator, however, urged people from the South-East to focus on their own development rather than waiting for fair treatment from the presidency.
