Olajide hails PDP-APM alliance, backs Adekanmbi for Oyo governorship

The member representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, has described the political alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) in Oyo State as a formidable partnership capable of shaping the state’s political future, while throwing his weight behind the governorship ambition of Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi.

Olajide, who is also the APM’s candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2027 general election, spoke on Thursday while receiving Adekanmbi and his running mate, Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, during the party’s statewide thank-you tour at the Jogor Events Centre, Ibadan.

The event attracted party leaders, stakeholders, elected officials, youths, women groups and supporters from across Ibadan North-West and Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency.

Addressing the gathering, the lawmaker commended Governor Seyi Makinde for facilitating the political understanding between the PDP and APM, describing the alliance as one built on mutual trust and a shared commitment to sustaining the developmental strides recorded under the Omituntun administration.

According to him, the collaboration has continued to enjoy widespread acceptance across the state and provides a viable platform for promoting political stability, inclusive governance and sustainable development.

Olajide reiterated his support for Adekanmbi and Salawu, expressing confidence in their ability to provide purposeful leadership if elected in the 2027 governorship election.

He urged party members to remain united and intensify grassroots mobilisation, stressing that cohesion within the alliance would be critical to its electoral success.

“The alliance represents a shared vision for the continued development of Oyo State. I have confidence in the capacity of our governorship candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, and his running mate, Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, to provide purposeful and inclusive leadership,” he said.

The federal lawmaker also presented an account of his stewardship over the past seven years, highlighting interventions in education, youth empowerment, digital innovation, healthcare, infrastructure development, security support and human capital development.

He expressed gratitude to party leaders, stakeholders and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, saying their support had made his re-election to the House of Representatives possible.

“I remain sincerely grateful to every party leader, stakeholder and member whose support and confidence made my re-election possible. The mandate you entrusted to me continues to inspire me to deliver purposeful representation, and I remain committed to justifying that confidence through quality service,” he said.

Olajide described the thank-you tour as an opportunity to appreciate party faithful for their loyalty and to strengthen existing party structures ahead of the 2027 general election.

He assured supporters that an APM-led administration in Oyo State would prioritise inclusive governance, economic growth, youth empowerment, quality education, improved security and accelerated infrastructure development.

Among those present at the rally were the Oyo State Chairman of APM, Otunba Fagbemi Adegbenro; Oyo State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Dayo Adegbenro; the PDP State Secretary, Hon. Wasiu Adeleke; Mogaji Nureni Akanbi; Dr. Remi Ayodele; Hon. Akeem Azeez, and other party leaders and supporters.
